Cursor's preview renders from your working copy on localhost, which is exactly right while you are the only one looking. The moment someone else needs to see it, that address means nothing to them, and the usual workarounds each cost something: a tunnel exposes your dev server and dies when you close the laptop, a branch deploy needs the project to already have one, and a screenshot throws away the part you wanted feedback on. If what you are previewing is a self-contained page, there is a shorter path. Copy the file, paste it here, and send a URL that works from anyone else’s browser and keeps working after you close the editor.

From the preview pane to a link

  1. 1.

Make sure the file stands alone: inline styles and scripts, or load them from a CDN rather than a local path.

  2. 2.

Copy the whole file out of the editor and paste it above.

  3. 3.

Use the preview to confirm it renders without your project around it.

  4. 4.

Publish and share the URL. Republish to the same URL after you act on the feedback.

Um exemplo real

You asked Cursor to build a pricing-page concept: three tiers, a monthly/annual toggle, a comparison table that collapses on narrow screens. It looks right in the preview pane and you want the founder to react to it before you wire it into the real app. Open the file, select all, paste it above. The preview here runs the same document, so click the toggle once to confirm the annual prices swap — if the file referenced a stylesheet that only exists in your repo, this is where you will see it, as an unstyled page rather than a mystery later. Publish and paste the link into the thread. The founder opens it on a phone, drags the toggle, and replies about the annual discount instead of asking you to describe what it does. When they ask for a different third tier, change it in Cursor and republish to the same URL, so the link already sitting in the thread shows the new version.

Perguntas sobre share a Cursor preview

Why not just share my localhost with a tunnel?

A tunnel is the better tool when you need the real server — an API, a database, a login. It also exposes your development machine to the internet for as long as it is open, and the URL dies with the process, which is a bad property for a link you posted in a thread someone reads tomorrow. For a static page, publishing the file avoids both problems.

The page imports Tailwind and a font. Will it look right?

If those come from a CDN over https, yes — published pages may load external stylesheets and scripts. What breaks is a relative path into your project, like a local build output or an image in your assets folder, because nothing on the published page can reach your disk. The preview above shows you which case you are in before you send anything.

Can I update the link after feedback?

Yes, and it is the point of using a link rather than a file. Republishing to the same URL keeps every copy of it working — the one in the thread, the one someone bookmarked. Sending a second link instead is how review threads end up arguing about two different versions.

Does this work for a component rather than a whole page?

Wrap it. Ask Cursor for a single HTML file that renders just that component with some representative props — most models will produce a small harness page around it without much prompting. That harness is usually a better review artefact than the real app anyway, because the reviewer cannot get lost on the way to it.
