HTML to PDF converter

Turn HTML code or a file into a printable PDF. Preview the page, choose paper settings, then use Print / Save PDF — or publish the original HTML as a link.

How to convert HTML to PDF

  1. 01

Add your HTML. Paste a document or open an .html file. It is read locally.

  2. 02

Make it print-ready. Choose the paper, orientation and margins, then review the preview.

  3. 03

Print or save a PDF. Open the browser print dialog and choose Save as PDF. Publish the original HTML separately when you need a live link.

What to know before you start

HTML reports are easy to generate, but the person receiving one may need a printable attachment. This HTML to PDF converter opens a local file or pasted code in an isolated browser preview. Choose A4 or Letter paper, portrait or landscape orientation, and a margin before opening your browser’s print dialog. Select Save as PDF as the destination to create a PDF file. No conversion server receives the document.

The browser does the printing, so text remains text rather than becoming a screenshot inside a PDF. Your browser controls its own headers, footers, background graphics and final pagination. Check the print preview before saving, especially when a report contains long tables or large images. Remote resources may need an internet connection; a missing font or blocked image can change the result.

The preview is static: scripts and embedded frames are disabled. If a report relies on JavaScript to generate its content, export the finished HTML first. A PDF also cannot keep buttons or interactive charts working. When your readers need the actual webpage, use Publish original HTML to carry the same source into DocHost’s existing publishing flow. Downloading a PDF and publishing a page are separate choices.

A practical example

A project manager receives an HTML quarterly report containing headings, a status table and links to supporting work. The report needs to go to two audiences: finance wants a PDF attachment, while the project team wants a browser link.

She opens the HTML file here and checks whether the table fits the preview. The report was designed for a wide screen, so she chooses landscape orientation and a smaller margin. After pressing Print / Save PDF, she selects Save as PDF in the browser’s destination list and checks that every column is visible. She disables the browser’s optional URL header before saving the attachment.

She then returns to this tool and chooses Publish original HTML. The HTML is already in the publishing panel, so she does not have to copy it again. She reviews the access settings and creates a link for the team. The PDF remains a snapshot; the hosted page has its own access policy and expiry. Before sending either version she opens it once to verify the content. For an image instead of a printout, the related HTML to Image tool exports PNG or JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert an HTML file to PDF?

Yes. Open an .html file or paste its code, choose your paper settings and select Save as PDF in the browser print dialog.

Will my PDF retain interactive charts?

No. A PDF is static and the print preview does not execute scripts. Publish the original HTML as a link when readers need supported interactions.

Do I have to publish before downloading?

No. Printing and saving run locally. Publishing is a separate action that uses DocHost’s normal access, size and expiry rules.
