HTML email preview
Check your email template in a browser at desktop and mobile widths. Then share a preview link with your client or teammate for review.
How to preview an HTML email
- 01
Add an email template. Paste your HTML email or open a template file.
- 02
Check both widths. Review layout, text and links in desktop and mobile browser previews.
- 03
Share it for review. Download the template or publish a browser preview link for your client.
What to know before you start
An HTML email is a small webpage with a very particular destination: somebody’s inbox. Before you send it, a browser preview is useful for checking the words, links and basic layout. Paste your template or open an HTML file, then switch between desktop and mobile widths. The preview updates after you pause typing and keeps the source beside the rendered result so you can correct a heading or a broken link without leaving the tool.
This is a browser-based HTML email viewer, not an email delivery service. It does not send campaigns, connect to an address book or render a message through Gmail and Outlook. Those clients apply different rules to CSS, fonts and images, so a design that looks right here still needs a real inbox test before a large send. Scripts and embedded frames are disabled in the preview. Remote images and styles can still load from the URLs in your template.
Use Download HTML to keep the template as a file. When a client needs to review it, choose Publish email preview instead. Your current HTML is carried into the normal DocHost publishing panel, where you can inspect it again and choose the available access settings. Publishing creates a webpage, not an email. Keep private customer details out of a public review page, and check the actual expiry before using its link in an approval workflow.
A practical example
A freelance designer prepares a short newsletter for a client. The template contains a logo, a headline, a paragraph and a call-to-action button. Sending a code file would make the client download it and guess how to open it, while a screenshot would hide whether the button goes to the right destination.
The designer pastes the email HTML here. She first checks the desktop width, then selects Mobile and sees that the headline wraps into three lines. She shortens it in the source and waits for the updated preview. Next she opens the links deliberately to check their destinations and saves the HTML as a local copy.
For the review round she selects Publish email preview. The publishing panel already contains the edited source. After reviewing its access settings she creates a DocHost link and sends it to the client. The client can review the browser layout without opening a code editor. The designer still sends a test email through the client’s email provider before launching the campaign: the hosted preview does not guarantee matching rendering in every inbox. If the client needs a printable approval copy, the related HTML to PDF tool handles the same template.
