Most ways of putting something online are built to be permanent, so when you only need a link for a few days you end up doing the cleanup yourself — and forgetting. A draft you sent a client is still public six months later; an internal report is sitting on a shared drive that half the company can reach.
A temporary URL inverts the default. Publish here without an account and the page is live immediately and expires after seven days on its own. You do not have to remember to take it down, because taking it down is what happens unless you intervene. If it turns out you need it for longer, you can extend that page or make it permanent later — the decision is reversible in the direction that matters.
Tomás builds internal tools as a contractor. A client asks to see the reporting dashboard he has been working on before they sign off on the next phase — a single self-contained HTML file with charts and a few filters, generated from a sample of their data.
Every option he would normally reach for is wrong in the same way. Emailing the file gets it flagged by their mail gateway. Putting it on his own hosting means a URL that will still be live, with a sample of their data in it, long after the review is over. Setting up a proper staging deploy for a two-day review is an hour of work for something he wants to disappear on Friday.

The client opens it on a laptop and again on a phone during a meeting, the filters work because the page runs its own JavaScript, and nobody installs anything. A week later the link stops resolving without Tomás doing anything, which is exactly what he wanted from the start. For the two pages the client asked to keep, he extends those and leaves the rest to expire.
