Markdown hosting — publish a .md file as a live web page
Host a Markdown file online as a rendered page with its own URL — no static-site generator, no repo, no account. Tables, code blocks, Mermaid and LaTeX included.
Paste or upload your Markdown
Rendered page at a public URL — free, no account.
A .md file on your disk is invisible to everyone else, and sending the raw file means your reader sees ## and ** instead of headings and bold. Markdown hosting fixes that: someone has to render your text to HTML, wrap it in readable styling, and serve it at a URL — every markdown host does those three things, and the differences are in how much ceremony sits in front of them. A static-site generator (Jekyll, Hugo, MkDocs) does it with a repo, a config, and a build pipeline, which is the right price for a real multi-page site. For one document — a README you want readable at a URL, a spec out for review, notes from an AI session — you can skip all of it: paste the Markdown above and the rendered page is live at its own link in seconds.
Host a Markdown file in three steps
- 1.
Paste your Markdown into the box above, or upload the
.mdfile straight from disk. - 2.
Check the rendered preview — headings, lists, tables, task lists and syntax-highlighted code blocks render the way GitHub would show them, so what you see is what your reader gets.
- 3.
Publish and copy the link. It opens as a clean, readable page on any device, and neither of you needs an account.
一个真实的例子
Ines is a backend engineer whose team writes design docs in Markdown, in the repo, where the review has to happen — except this week’s reviewers include a product manager and a security consultant, neither of whom has repo access, and the wiki her company uses mangles fenced code blocks on paste. Her spec is one rfc-billing-retries.md with three tables, a Mermaid sequence diagram, and a dozen code snippets. She pastes it into dochost, watches the preview render the diagram and the syntax highlighting intact, and sends one link in the review thread. Both external reviewers read it on their phones the same afternoon. After the first round of comments she revises the doc through its edit link — the URL in the thread now serves revision two, and nobody downloads anything or asks for access.
关于markdown hosting的常见问题
What does the hosted page render — tables, code, diagrams, math?
Full Markdown: headings, lists, tables, task lists, footnotes, and syntax-highlighted code blocks, rendered the way GitHub shows them. Fenced ```mermaid blocks render as live diagrams, and LaTeX renders for math notes — so a technical doc arrives with its diagrams and equations intact, not as broken fences.
How do I update a hosted Markdown page?
Through its edit link, which every publish includes — no account needed. Change the Markdown, save, and the public URL serves the new version immediately. No rebuild, no re-deploy, no new link to circulate: a hosted document you cannot update is just a screenshot, so this is the part that matters.
Should I use this or a static-site generator like Hugo or MkDocs?
Honest scoping: dochost hosts documents, one page per link. If you are building a multi-page docs site — navigation, search, versioning, dozens of interlinked pages — a static-site generator plus GitHub Pages or Netlify is the right tool and worth its setup cost. The break-even is roughly “am I maintaining a site, or sharing a document?” For a single document, hosting it directly wins on every count that matters: seconds to publish, zero infrastructure, updatable in place.
What does markdown hosting cost, and how long do pages last?
Nothing to start: pages are free for 7 days (3 days if published as private), extendable for free before they expire, and claiming them into a free account keeps them in a dashboard. Pages that need to live permanently — docs you will link from elsewhere, a page under your own subdomain — are what the paid plans cover.
Is this document hosting? Can I put a Word file or a PDF here?
It hosts documents in the sense that matters for sharing — a written page at a URL anyone can open — but it does not store files for download. What gets published is a rendered web page, so a .md file becomes a page and a .html file becomes a page. A Word file or a PDF is not served as-is; convert it to Markdown first and publish the result, which is usually what you wanted anyway, because a hosted page opens on a phone and a downloaded .docx does not. If you need the original binary to stay a downloadable file, a file host or a drive share is the right tool and this is not.
