LaTeX viewer — render an equation, share the link

Type a LaTeX math expression and see it rendered instantly. When it looks right, publish it as a clean, shareable page.

Edit on the left, KaTeX preview on the right, then publish the equation as a link.

LaTeX is the standard way to write mathematical notation, but reading it as raw source — \frac, \int, ^, _, stacked braces — is hard, and most places that accept LaTeX only show the result after a full document compile. When you just want to check that one equation renders correctly, that is a lot of overhead.

This is a live LaTeX viewer: type or paste an expression and it renders with KaTeX in your browser as you type. An invalid expression shows an inline error instead of failing silently, so you can fix a stray brace or a misspelled command on the spot. When the equation is right, publish it to a dochost link so you can share the rendered math with someone who does not have a LaTeX setup.

Three steps to a shared equation

  1. 1.

Type or paste a LaTeX math expression in the editor — it renders live.

  2. 2.

Fix any inline errors until the equation looks right.

  3. 3.

Click Publish to get a shareable link that shows the rendered math.

實際範例

Maria tutors first-year calculus online. A student messaged asking why their answer to a Gaussian integral was off, pasting their working as raw LaTeX in the chat — an unreadable string of backslashes and braces. Maria pasted it into the LaTeX viewer and immediately saw the rendered equation: the student had put the exponent outside the integral bound, which was obvious once it was typeset rather than in source form.

Maria corrected the expression in the editor, watched the preview update to the right result, and clicked Publish. The chat tool the student used does not render LaTeX, so Maria sent the dochost link instead — the student opened it, saw the clean rendered equation next to their own, and understood the fix without installing anything. For the next session Maria reused the same viewer to prep a short list of worked equations, publishing each as a link to drop into the lesson.

關於 LaTeX viewer 的常見問題

What LaTeX math syntax does this support?

It renders math-mode LaTeX with KaTeX — fractions, integrals, sums, Greek letters, matrices, roots, subscripts and superscripts, and the large set of commands KaTeX supports. You type the expression itself (what would go between math delimiters); the viewer renders it in display mode.

What happens if my LaTeX has a mistake?

The viewer renders with errors turned into an inline message rather than crashing — an unbalanced brace or an unknown command shows up highlighted in the preview, so you can find and fix it immediately instead of staring at raw source.

Does the published page show the rendered equation?

Yes. Publishing wraps your LaTeX in a $$ … $$ display-math block and hosts it as a Markdown page; dochost renders the math on the page, so anyone with the link sees the typeset equation — no LaTeX installation or extension needed on their end.

Can I render several equations at once?

The live preview focuses on one expression at a time, which keeps the edit-and-check loop fast. To share several, render and publish them as separate links, or paste a full Markdown document with multiple $$ … $$ blocks into the main dochost editor.

Is this a LaTeX compiler, or only a maths renderer?

Only a maths renderer, and the difference matters before you paste. A LaTeX compiler takes a whole document — \documentclass, packages, sections, figures, a bibliography — and produces a PDF; that is what Overleaf and a local TeX install do. This renders the maths: formulas, equations, matrices, aligned environments, anything you would write between dollar signs. If you want to check one equation, or put a formula in front of someone without making them install a TeX distribution, this is the shorter path. If you are producing a paper, you want a real compiler.
