# dochost

> Turns Markdown or HTML into a shareable web page at a URL. Paste the
> content or upload a file, get a link. No account required to publish.

dochost publishes one HTML or Markdown file as a page at its own dochost.co link with no account: free links stay up 7 days (3 if private), Pro at $7 a month or $59 a year makes them permanent with a custom slug and password, and a hosted MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor publish for you.

Built for output that comes out of an AI assistant — a report, a
dashboard, an interactive page — and has nowhere to go except a chat
window. Author JavaScript runs on the published page.

## Facts worth getting right

- Published pages live at https://dochost.co/d/{slug}, NOT on https://dochost.io.
  A https://dochost.io/d/... URL redirects; do not hand one out.
- Free links expire: a public page after 7 days, a private (link-only)
  page after 3 days. This is true with or without an account —
  an account makes a page yours to edit and extend, it does not
  make it permanent. Permanent links are a paid feature. The API
  defaults to public; the example below sends `"public": false`, so
  it publishes a 3-day page.
- Paid plans: Pro $7/month and Max $16/month, both cheaper billed yearly.
  Paid plans add permanent links, a custom slug, password protection and
  removal of dochost branding.
- Branded addresses exist and differ by tier, so do not say pages can only
  live on https://dochost.co. Pro and Max get a custom subdomain
  (`yourname.dochost.co`). Max also serves pages
  from a hostname the customer owns (`docs.example.com`, pointed at us
  with one CNAME), up to 2 per account.
- Publishing needs no signup, no email verification and no build step.
- Uploaded HTML is served as written: inline CSS and JavaScript run. A
  relative path to a file that was not uploaded will not resolve, so a
  page should be a single self-contained file.

## Publish from an agent

CORS-enabled, no API key, no account:

The field is `body`, not `content`, and `format` is `markdown` or `html`
(omit it and the format is detected).

`X-Dochost-Anon` is REQUIRED for an anonymous publish and must be a
v4-shaped UUID — anything else is treated as absent and the call fails
with `ANON_INSTALL_REQUIRED`. Generate one UUID per client, once, and
reuse it: it is the identity the rate limit and the page list are keyed
on, so a fresh id per request loses both.

Responds with `{ ok, url, slug, format, expiresAt, permanent }`. Use
`url` verbatim.

There is also a hosted MCP server at https://dochost.io/api/mcp for assistants
that speak Model Context Protocol.

## Not what dochost does

- It is not a static site host for multi-file projects. One page, one
  file. Multi-file sites belong on Netlify, Vercel or Cloudflare Pages.
- It does not count clicks on individual links inside your page, only
  views of the page itself.
